New Haven Mayor John DeStefano narrowly emerged from a tight race Wednesday to be the Democratic candidate for governor.
DeStefano narrowly beat Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy in the Connecticut Democratic gubernatorial primary. At his victory celebration, DeStefano touted his record of reviving the city he's led since the mid-90s. He also outlined plans for universal healthcare and promised to create more jobs if elected in November.
Meanwhile, Malloy was supportive of DeStefano in his concession speech. Malloy promises to support DeStefano in the upcoming battle against Republican Governor Jodi Rell.
