New initiative looks to help young adult homeless population in Bridgeport

There is a new initiative to combat homelessness in Bridgeport.
The initiative, Hernan's Haven for Youth, is specifically geared for young adults who need a place to stay.
Hernan's Haven was created by the Alpha Community Services YMCA.
The YMCA says the goal is to provide permanent supportive housing for 18- to 24-year-olds.
News 12 Connecticut is told caseworkers will help the young adults who stay there with college prep and employment.
There are 11 units in the building on Boston Avenue.
