For those who commute from South Brooklyn to Wall Street by ferry, the trip will now be shorter starting today.
The Faster Connections Pilot for the South Brooklyn Ferry route is now in effect. The South Brooklyn route once held the longest travel times in the New York City ferry system now promises to deliver neighbors to Wall Street from Bay Ridge in 21 minutes.
The ferry will make no more than two stops before getting to Wall Street/Pier 11 on weekdays from 6:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
There will now be one less ferry during that time period, but the trade-off is getting to Wall Street in nearly half the time.
NYC Ferry says the pilot will make the ferry more time-competitive with other public transit options. As of now, the program does not have an expiration date.
Service along the South Brooklyn route will continue after 10 a.m. with the ferry making stops at Sunset Park, Red Hook, Governors Island and Atlantic Avenue.
