The town of Stratford welcomed a new physical therapy practice on Saturday.
Dr. Ilicia Mathis is the owner of Supreme Physical Therapy and Wellness Rehab at 1825 Barnum Ave.
During Physical Therapy Awareness Month, she says it feels great to help patients eliminate their pain.
"In college, I actually was faced with a lot of injuries. I had to rehab myself and going through that process personally, it made me be more empathetic to the patients and what they're going through," Mathis said. "It's been a dream of mine to have my own clinic space. It's something I've wanted to do since I was a freshman in college, and now that I'm actually doing it, putting my plans into motion, it's amazing and I'm super, super excited."
October is also Women's Small Business Month.
Mathis says it's a great time to try out her practice.
