The state Senate Tuesday approved the biggest tax cut in state history.
"While we will stake claim at the end of the day for having the largest tax cut in state history, we could have, and should have, done so much more," said state Sen. Eric Berthel.
The budget also includes raises for group home workers who have been on strike, for almost two weeks.
There's also a big infusion of money for local schools.
The budget also includes cuts to Metro-North commuter rail.
"We don't want to see those fares go up. I understand that ridership is pretty strong Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. But 'thank God it's Friday' -- nobody's on the train," said Gov. Ned Lamont.
Nonprofits also warn the new budget leaves them dangerously underfunded.
