New technology to improve the efficiency of dismantling nuclear reactors is being used at Indian Point in Buchanan.
Holtec International, which is decommissioning the plant, released a photo of a device it developed called the called "HI-CUT."
The company says it's being used for vessel segmentation of Unit 3's reactor.
Indian Point officially closed in April of 2021. The decommissioning process is expected to take 12 to 15 years.
