A New York man is facing charges related to illegal cannabis sales at a Wilton convenience store.

The Wilton Police Department Detective Squad and the Norwalk Police Department Special Services Unit investigated the Kenan Convenience and Cigars store along 17 Danbury Road on July 29.

The investigation led them to find cannabis products stashed in a hidden location within the store, along with scales and cash.

Kratom products were also located in the store. The officers also seized 39 large canisters and over 400 smaller chargers of nitrous oxide.

Twenty-six-year-old store clerk Kareem Essaedi, of New York City, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and cannabis products with intent to sell.

Essaedi was able to pay 7% of his $5,000 bond and was released. He is set to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 12.
