Happy hour no longer has to stop at the bar. Residents will now be able to drink at movie theaters across New York.
The New York State Liquor Authority unanimously voted to allow movie theaters to sell beer and wine for customers to drink while watching a film.
Previously, theaters had to be licensed to sell alcohol or could only sell before or after shows in designated areas. The National Association of Theatre Owners says it hopes the new rule brings in more revenue to theaters across the state.
The new rules go into effect immediately. It's not known yet what beer and wine will be served in or if there will be a drink limit.
