Norwalk Common Council member Greg Burnett died Thursday, according to a statement issued by Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling.
Mayor Rilling said Burnett was a Norwalk resident for nearly 30 years and a devoted member of the community.
Burnett served in various capacities including Common Council at-large member, Common Council president, chairperson of the Common Council finance and claims committee, member of the board of education, and member of the board of estimation and taxation.
"He had a big heart and was committed to addressing the needs of all our residents," said mayor Rilling. "He made a lasting impact on our community, which he deeply loved and will be sorely missed."
Rilling has directed the flags at city hall to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Burnett.
Burnett's cause of death was not released.
