A local nonprofit in Norwalk received a special 30-year proclamation Tuesday from Mayor Harry Rilling.
Norwalk-Stamford Grassroots Tennis & Education was formally recognized for three decades of helping underserved youth succeed through tennis.
Each year, the group works with more than 250 children ages 5 to 21.
"Building those life skills that you learn through sports, especially with tennis, gives them opportunities to be able to do more in life," one supporter said.
"They're great, they have great skills, not only on the court, but off the court as well," another added.
The organization is currently seeking volunteers and donations.
