Norwalk marks Autism Acceptance Month with annual event

As part of the worldwide "Light It Up Blue" campaign, the gazebo was lit up in blue. The goal of the campaign is to recognize the contributions people with autism have made in their community and world.

The Norwalk community came together Tuesday to mark Autism Acceptance Month.

The city held its annual Autism Acceptance event on the Norwalk Green.

As part of the worldwide "Light It Up Blue" campaign, the gazebo was lit up in blue.

The goal of the campaign is to recognize the contributions people with autism have made in their community and world.

During the event, state Sen. Bob Duff presented a proclamation from Gov. Ned Lamont. Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling also presented a proclamation to declare April as Autism Acceptance Month.

Members of the Norwalk police and fire department, along with local officials were also in attendance.
