Norwalk police on Tuesday warned people not to leave their purses or wallets unattended while shopping because thieves are always on the lookout for easy targets.
One stop on the police "purse patrol" was the ShopRite supermarket on Connecticut Avenue. Officers walked around the store and put stickers on the bags and other belongings of shoppers not paying attention to them.
Police say they handed out more than 30 warning stickers within 30 minutes.
They say these types of crimes occur year-round, but are more frequent during the holiday season.
