A group of high school students in Norwalk received a lifechanging opportunity Wednesday.

Officials from Livingstone College, a Historically Black College and University located in North Carolina, presented full-ride scholarships to seniors at Brien McMahon and Norwalk high schools.

The students who were awarded the scholarships have GPAs between 3.7 and 4.0.

Livingstone president and CEO Dr. Anthony J. Davis says for him, it's important to give back and make it easier for students to attend college.

"Growing up in the foster care system something that I realized is that much is given, much is expected and required. So shame on you, if you can get to the penthouse of your career and you're not willing to send the elevator back down to bring someone else up," he says.

The presentation is part of a larger tour Davis and officials are on, visiting high schools in the Northeast.

Davis says the visit is a chance for students to learn about Livingstone, which is the fastest-growing HBCU in the country.
