New York business leaders publicly pleaded with the Trump administration to recognize the results of the election and start preparing Joe Biden for the presidency hours before the administration announced it is ready to begin the formal transition process.
Those executives sent an urgent letter saying that prolonging the transition of power "puts the public and economic health and security of America at risk."
Among those who signed the letter were CEOs of the Blackstone Group, Warby Parker, Saks Fifth Avenue and Altice - the parent company of News 12.
Those business leaders wrote, "we urge respect for the democratic process and unified support for our duly elected leadership."
They expressed concern that division will weaken respect for the U.S. government, at home and abroad.
Trump is now asking his team to cooperate with the transition but also says he has not given up the fight.
