NY State Assembly passes Adult Survivors Act to give sex abuse victims a year to file civil suits

The New York State Assembly passed a bill making it easier for adult sexual abuse survivors to sue their abusers on Monday.
The Adult Survivors Act gives people 18 and older one year to file a civil suit against their abusers.
Gov. Kathy Hochul's office says the governor plans to sign the bill once it reaches her desk.
It would go into effect six months after Hochul signs the bill.
