A New York City police officer was seriously injured Friday after a car pinned her against a bench in the Bronx.
According to police, when officers tried to approach a car they thought was stolen on Clay Avenue it shifted into reverse. Authorities say police opened fire on the driver after his car pinned the officer against a pole. The female officer was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where she is in stable condition with leg injuries. Two other officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center.
Police say the unidentified driver was shot one time in the head and his wounds are life threatening. He was taken to the hospital, where he is in critical condition. The female passenger in the car that hit the officer was arrested.
