OCTOBER NOR’EASTER: Drivers ignore closed street signs in Westport

News 12’s Marissa Alter has been all over southwestern Connecticut today covering the October nor’easter that swept across the region.
The storm caused some trees and wires to come down, which blocked traffic – notably near Cranberry Elementary School on Knowalot Lane in Norwalk and on Downe Lane in Wilton. The Wilton scene has since been cleared.
Alter was in Westport where drivers were ignoring closed road signs despite flooding issues.
In Westport, one of the town's major roads has a small section shut down – Post Road West between Cross and Wright streets. Crews were repairing a downed wire.
Periods of lighter rain and gusty winds will continue tonight before ending by Wednesday morning.
