Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei overruled a recreation department decision to strip the Greenwich Flag Football League's use of town fields.
Tesei says he overturned the decision after learning that Recreation Superintendent Peter Mandras sent a "harsh and offensive" email criticizing the league's leadership.
Mandras allegedly sent the email after one team on the league violated regulations by playing on fields without permission.
Tesei remarked, "Mandras had legitimate concerns but used poor judgment in the way he conveyed them."
He also added that a meeting will be held later to improve the meaning and understanding of regulations in the future.
News 12 Connecticut tried contacting Mandras to present his view on the topic, but he did not accept or return the phone calls.
