Residents were evacuating when firefighters got to the two-story apartment building.
Officials found smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor caused by an appliance fire in a bedroom.
Residents were allowed to reoccupy the building, except for five residents of the fire apartment. That apartment was posted unfit for occupancy.
No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
