Officials say a Bridgeport man is lucky to be alive after a freak accident involving a riding lawn mower.
They say workers of American Medical Response, AMR, along with first responders from the Bridgeport Fire Department, saved the man's life after the lawnmower he was repairing Tuesday fell on top of him.
When family members arrived, they say the man was not breathing and had no pulse.
Authorities say it was the quick response of everybody that led to a positive outcome - and that EMTs used the mechanical chest compression apparatus known as the Lucas device to get the job done.
Deputy Fire Chief James Buck says the whole response effort was a great example of what first responders do on a regular basis that the public doesn't always get to see.
The victim is recovering at a local hospital.
