Two teens are behind bars after stealing a car from a Stratford gas station that had a 3-year-old child in the back seat.

Police say the carjacking happened Wednesday afternoon at the Citgo on the corner of Barnum and Boston avenues.

Authorities say the suspects dropped the child off at Station 10 firehouse in Bridgeport before leading police on a chase throughout Fairfield County.

The suspects took off on Route 8, eventually ending up on I-95S, where they crashed the car at the base of the Exit 25 off-ramp.

Police say the suspects tried to run away, but authorities caught them.

A tow truck could be seen hauling away a damaged white Hyundai Tucson from the site of the crash Wednesday evening around 4 p.m.

Police say the child is safe and back with parents.
