Trumbull's recently hired Director of Public Health is on administrative leave after he was arrested in Bridgeport, officials say.
Until a few weeks ago, Sumit Sharma served as Bridgeport's Deputy Health Director.
Bridgeport officials say Sharma used his city position to obtain nearly $5,000 worth of tickets and food for day two of the Soundside Music Festival in September 2024.
They say Sharma falsely claimed a group of people with him were health inspectors.
However, that group was later reportedly seen drinking inside the VIP tent while wearing concert staff wristbands.
Sharma was charged with two counts of larceny by extortion.
He is expected to appear in court on May 2.
