State officials have identified one man who was killed in a Labor Day boat crash as authorities in Old Saybrook continue their search for two missing men.

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection says 34-year-old Christopher Hallahan, of Westbrook, was found dead when authorities first responded to the scene late Monday night. The Hallahan last name is well-known throughout the area, according to residents.

State officials say six of the nine people on board were rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment after their boat struck a jetty at high speed near the mouth of the Connecticut River.

One of those individuals remained in critical condition as of Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

First responders were back on the water as early as 8 a.m. Wednesday to resume a search and recovery operation for the two men still missing.

Connecticut Environmental Police Capt. Keith Williams says multiple local departments continued helping with the search, and state police deployed a plane to sweep the area from above on Wednesday.

Authorities say they're continuing to investigate how fast the boat was going at the time of the crash, and how experienced the operator of the boat was.
