Our Lives: CEO of Pinnacle Educational Center shares advice on applying to colleges

Welcome to our lives. I'm Gwen Edwards High school seniors and high school juniors. It is time to get organized before you start applying to college. My guest today has a line of tips that will help you. Doctor Paul Lowe is the CEO and founder of pinnacle education centers with offices throughout the tri state area. Thank you so much, Doctor Lowe. Thank you. Thank you. So you have a checklist. Uh Let's go through it. Your recommendations for high school seniors and rising juniors. The first thing they should do, especially high school seniors is narrow down their college list. A lot of students start with like 50 colleges and we recommend they narrow it down to at least 20 schools and then create a short list of about 10 schools. The next thing is they should visit college campuses, sort of kick the tie. See if they like the school, see if they like the location, they should work begin now, especially the seniors, their college applications, especially the common app and the supplemental college essays. And as a result of the Supreme Court ruling, a lot of schools have added new supplemental essays. Next, they should really start requesting letters of recommendations from various teachers, especially one most important letter recommendation, the guidance counselor. Next, they should possible scholarships. A lot of the scholarships available are not necessarily just for financial aid but merit based scholarships. Next part is their SATS. Finally, if there's a need for financial aid, they should start planning for filling out that very important form. The FA FS A form, a lot of the schools are need blind and a lot of the private schools that have a huge endowment, students can get full scholarships based on financial aid and their need on Doctor Lowe. There's nothing sadder than the student who spent all this time and effort with their parents to find the perfect school to visit. Get there. And they're so unhappy and they're making those tearful phone calls to parents. That's a result of a poor planning. I think that students should really kick the tires, especially the college visit. I highly recommend that students visit three or four times, especially their target schools sort of stay overnight, sit in on classes and then you won't have those uh cheerful phone calls. How important is that essay? The essay is immensely important. The main essay, the common app, main essay that 650 word essay schools read that. Now if schools feel number one, if you haven't answered the question, you'll get rejected right away. And Dr Lowe, for those who want more information about your services. How do they contact you?
