With cooler temperatures approaching, a local hardware store offered tips Monday on what you can do to prepare your home for the winter.
Richard Velez, owner of Westport Hardware on Post Road, gave News 12 Connecticut some tips for how to keep your home warm and save money.
Westport Hardware has an entire aisle dedicated to sealants- expandable foam products for cracks, rubber stripping and foam insulation for windows and doors.
Velez says homeowners should use insulation products to seal openings. He says sealing the openings can lower the cost of your winter energy expenses.
Velez also suggests cutting down on energy consumption by switching to a more efficient light bulb, like a compact fluorescent or LED bulb.
