Parents and teachers are demanding more safety precautions at an intersection near Saint Mary's School.
A petition has been circulated calling for a stop sign or traffic light at the corner of Carpenter Avenue and 224th Street. Parents are especially worried for their children because they say cars, cabs and buses were seen speeding through the area. They say hiring crossing guards at the intersection is not enough.
A spokesperson for the Department of Transportation says the agency initiated a study at the request of Community Board 12 last month. Results are expected by early December.
