24ds agoParents and students attended a rally outside the NYC’s Department of Education headquarters Friday, protesting that the students didn’t get matched with any of the schools on their wish list.
Some students tell News 12 they didn’t get a match at all into any high school.
The current system entails that to get into specialized high schools, students are required to take a test. But to get into a local high school outside of your zoned district, those placements are decided in a lottery system.
Those who rallied argued the lottery hurts good students.
Several of these kids are middle school students who say they feel they want to be matched with schools of their preference and think hard work should pay off.
