Municipalities across Connecticut are beginning to issue parking bans and snow emergencies ahead of a winter storm expected this weekend.
New Milford is implementing a parking ban beginning Sunday afternoon as weather conditions develop across the region. The ban is set to last through Monday at noon unless conditions worsen, town officials say.
Residents are being asked to park in their driveways or on their lawns and make sure all four tires are off the road, officials say. Municipal parking lots should be used by downtown residents, including those at Town Hall, the Senior Center and the Patriots' Way parking lot.
In Stamford, a snow emergency begins Sunday at 8 a.m. and runs through Tuesday. Vehicles parked on designated snow emergency routes or alternate side parking roads must be moved or risk being ticketed or towed, city officials say.
Additional snow ordinances are also in effect in the city, officials say.
