? Some Pelham Bay homeowners want to save their trees, which could be cut down due to residential construction.
Residents on Jarvis Avenue have tied yellow ribbons around the trees. They say developer Joseph Ciampa, who has already cut down several on the block to make way for 47 new homes, has asked city parks officials for permission to cut others. The department says it is reviewing Ciampa?s request and, if approved, he will have to pay restitution.
Homeowners, like Angie Joy, are upset about the cutting of trees. Joy says the Jarvis Avenue foliage has been around for at least 80 years.
