A building super died following an assault at his own complex in Flatbush.
It happened around 8:15 Wednesday morning at 1199 Ocean Ave. near Glenwood Place.
The victim’s family identified the super as 41-year-old Burim Havolli.
Police said they found Havolli with serious head injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
“I never expected this to happen in the country where we came to do our best,” said Blerim Havolli, the victim's younger brother. “He loved this country. This country helped us a lot.”
The victim leaves behind a wife and three children — aged 8, 6 and 2.
“Two years old, the boy keeps asking, ‘What’s going on? Why so many people in here? Where’s my father?” said Blerim Havolli.
A police source confirmed to News 12 that the victim confronted someone about stolen packages before an argument that escalated to the deadly assault.
Petrit Havolli described his cousin as a good man and a family man.
“There are no words that I can explain,” said Petrit Havolli. “This is sad. He left behind three children. I cannot believe it. I cannot believe he’s not alive today.”
Police said they had a person of interest is in custody but no charges had yet been filed as of Thursday afternoon.
The medical examiner is working to confirm the exact cause of death.
