Phase 3 to bring much-needed boost to state’s restaurant industry
The start of phase three in Connecticut means a boost for restaurants across the state.
Under phase three, restaurants can operate at 75% capacity indoors as long as 6-foot social distancing can be maintained.
The cap on indoor gatherings also goes up to 100 people and concert venues can open at reduced capacity.
The governor says the state's 1.5% infection rate is still one of the best in the country. Still, he left the door open for some communities to opt out of phase three due to COVID-19 “flare-ups.”
“I think we're going to make a decision over the next couple days whether to give those towns a little more discretion, stay at 50%.
Currently, the towns that would have that option are Windham, Preston, Norwich and New London.
A decision on whether they can stay in phase two is expected next week.
