Phone service restored in Fairfield following outage
Phone service has been restored in Fairfield following an outage that affected schools, hospitals and police stations.
Fairfield's IT department tells News 12 the outage was due to a "major fiber cut" to "a flooded Frontier Communications data center in Norwalk."
Frontier Communications issued a statement saying, "Frontier has been working around the clock to fix an outage that is impacting some telephone service. 911 calls are NOT affected by the outage. We thank our customers for their patience--and hope to have the service restored as soon as possible today."
The outage affected towns and cities in Fairfield County.
