Highs on Wednesday made it to 56 degrees on average, with some locations getting even closer to 60 degrees. This marks a third-straight 50-degree day, the longest such stretch since early December.
Expect the warmth to continue into Thursday, however with some rain.
Showers move in before 10 p.m. Showers will be steady at first, through midnight, then on-and-off light rain through the rest of the overnight. Steadier rain returns during the Thursday morning commute.
Watch out for slick spots and puddles in potholes, both contributed by the copious amounts of salt on the roads and sidewalks.
The showers continue through about 1 p.m. with a brief afternoon break. Highs could hit 60 degrees away from the cooler water.
A cold front will spark a few scattered thunderstorms around 5 p.m. Not everyone in the borough will see rain, but some spots could see a heavy downpour and some thunder and lightning. Be weather-aware if planning to be out during that time.
A cold Canadian wind returns Thursday night. It will be briefly colder Friday with that brisk wind and highs around 50.
The wind becomes a warmer southerly wind Saturday with 60s possible again, maybe even middle 60s if the storm stays to the north and more sunshine moves in as a result.
Behind Saturday's warmth will be the return of winter weather. A tale of two seasons, in fact, as it will feel like the 20s Sunday afternoon with highs struggling to reach 35.
It stays cold through Monday night and warmer weather is expected to return this time next week with a potential major storm midweek next week. Stay tuned for updates.
