A 19-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy were fatally stabbed Saturday in West Haven, police say.

Officers received several 911 calls just before 9 p.m. reporting that screaming and yelling was coming from an apartment on Meloy Road.

Callers informed police that a man had jumped through a second-floor glass window and landed on a walkway that led to the apartment.

Once officers arrived, they found the man who was injured. He was taken to the hospital. Officers then found the woman and boy inside the apartment.

Both had multiple stab wounds, according to authorities.

Police say a suspect is in custody and there is no threat to the public. The suspect's identity, along with the names of the victims, is expected to be released in the coming days.

The West Haven Detective Division is investigating the incident along with the Milford States Attorney's Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
