Police are trying to track down men who they believe stole two cars and rummaged through several others early this morning in Milford.
Officials believe a total of three people were involved in the crime. They say all three got away, and one is believed to have been in the area of West Rutland Road for some time.
Authorities say it all started near the Lexington Green condo complex on a report of three suspicious cars.
Police say at some point, two cars were stolen on Milford Chase, about a mile away.
A video has been released showing the suspect outside a woman’s house.
According to police, he rang that woman's doorbell on West Rutland Road around 6:30 a.m. and asked for directions to the mall. She immediately called 911 after he left.
The woman says when she checked her driveway, one of her cars was missing.
Police set up a perimeter that spanned a couple of square miles. The search also included two separate K-9 tracks and a drone.
The search continued until around 10 a.m. when officers made the decision to call it off.
Police describe the suspect in the video as a black male last seen wearing black pants and an orange-hooded sweatshirt. They believe he's under the age of 20.
Investigators have recovered one of the stolen cars. The car that is still missing is a white 2015 Mazda CX-5 with Connecticut plate 8ARSU2.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
