Police say a man was fatally shot Saturday night in Bridgeport.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 1200 block of Park Avenue just after 11 p.m.
When police arrived at 22 Vine St. they found Baron Goulbourne, 37, of Bridgeport, on the ground unconscious. He pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe Goulbourne was the target of the attack.
Neighbor Julio Romero says he was coming back from grocery shopping when he saw the crime scene.
“All of a sudden there were like 15 police cars over here,” he said. “I thought, oh my God, what's going on?"
Tony Barr, a resident who spent over 21 years in a maximum-security penitentiary for drug trafficking, believes Bridgeport can improve once it encourages young people to seek a better path in life.
"We're losing someone that probably didn't get the opportunity to show their true potential,” he said. "There's a dark cloud over the City of Bridgeport."
Officials tells News 12 they are reviewing and collecting surveillance video and speaking to people who might know what happened.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
