Police: 73-year-old woman dies after falling down stairs during Co-op City power outage

A woman is dead after falling down the stairs Friday at Co-op City, according to police.
Police say she was climbing 19 flights of stairs and ran out of oxygen while carrying her oxygen tank.
Neighbors say they are worried about other elderly residents in the community.
Police say they found the woman between the 18th and 19th floors. There was no power in the building at the time of the incident.
Police have not identified the woman at this time.
“It’s definitely a concern,” a neighbor told News 12 Friday night.
Police say the incident is under investigation and that it is unclear if the power outages was the cause.
