State police are investigating the death of a Bridgeport man found in a wrecked car late Saturday night.
According to West Haven police, 20-year-old Tremaine Newton's death has been labeled untimely with suspicious circumstances after officers discovered he was shot to death and not killed in a car crash. Newton's body was found partially decomposed by first responders in a damaged car in a ditch.
Police were notified about the body after a bus driver noticed the car near exit 42 off I-95.
Investigators from the State Police Major Crime Squad say the body appeared to be in the car for at least one day and the car may have been placed in the ditch before Newton's body was put inside.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 203-696-2500.
