Hartford police released body camera footage of the moment they arrested a man who attacked a state lawmaker outside a Muslim prayer service last summer.
In the footage, Andrey Desmond's is combative but also appears confused as officers book him.
The attack happened in June 2023 after state Rep. Maryam Khan, a Democrat from Windsor, attended a service celebrating the Eid al-Adha holiday at Hartford’s XL Center arena with about 4,000 other people.
Last month, Desmond pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on Rep. Khan outside Hartford's XL Center.
Under the plea agreement, Desmond will spend five years in prison and 16 years on special parole.
Desmond has a long history of mental illness in New York, according to records.
