Police: Driver, their pet pinned in head-on collision in Newtown

A head-on collision on Berkshire Road pinned a driver and their pet Monday afternoon in Newtown, police say.
Sandy Hook Volunteer fire crews were able to remove the driver and their pet with both cars in bad shape.
Multiple ambulances were called to the scene and took both drivers to hospitals.
The pet wasn't injured in the crash.
Berkshire Road is now open as of Tuesday morning.
