State police investigated a deadly accident in the town of Woodbury on Wednesday that involved a van and two trucks on 1-87.
Police said it happened around 12:30p.m. when a 2020 Nissan van rear-ended a 2016 Freightliner tractor. The tractor was slowed down in the right lane because a work zone was approaching.
The collision pushed the tractor-trailer forward into the back of a 1997 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
Police said the driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the 2016 Freightliner was identified as 51-year-old Adam Rice of New Jersey. He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the other Freightliner was identified as Jeffrey Clark, 66, of Florida. He was not injured in the crash.
