Police have identified a man killed in a crash that sent his car into the waters of Bridgeport Harbor on Christmas Eve.
Police say 33-year-old Jamal Gordon was killed early in the morning the day before Christmas after his car veered off the street and ended up in the water at Stratford and Waterview avenues.
Authorities say a call came to 911 just before 3 a.m. reporting a BMW went down an embankment entering the Bridgeport Harbor near Johnson's Creek.
Police say the vehicle was partially submerged on its roof with Gordon still inside.
They say the Bridgeport Police Scuba Team was called, and firefighters wearing cold water rescue suits pulled Gordon to shore and started life-saving efforts, however, they say Gordon was later declared dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
Gordon's friends say the entire community is diminished by his loss.
"Never forget him, love him, you know, and God bless his family," says David Brown.
Police ask anyone who may have seen the accident to call police at 203-576-TIPS.
