Norwalk police say they have captured a man who robbed a local jewelry store this afternoon.
The incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. at SoNo Silver Company at the corner of Marshall and North Main streets.
About an hour later, police say they apprehended the suspect in the robbery, 56-year-old Thomas Mapp, outside the Oak Knoll Apartments on Connecticut Avenue.
Police say Mapp got away with $3,500 worth of jewelry, but officers believe they were able to recover all of the stolen property.
According to investigators, they managed to quickly catch Mapp after an employee at the store provided a good description of the suspect, and a surveillance video from another business showed the direction in which Mapp fled and the car he entered.
