A man who was shot outside a trucking school in Bridgeport died Tuesday, marking the city's third homicide of 2019.
Police say Eric Salters was confronted by a gunman after leaving class outside the New England Tractor Trailer Training School on Jan. 26, where he was a student. They say when they arrived at the scene, Salters was unconscious after being shot multiple times.
The 28-year-old New Haven resident went to Bridgeport Hospital where he died Tuesday, more than a week after the shooting.
Bridgeport police are working with New Haven authorities as well, looking for nearby surveillance cameras. They say they think Salters was specifically targeted.
NETTTS officials say Salters was about halfway through his training and was doing well.
"Our company is over 50 years old and nothing like this has ever happened before, so we're all really just devastated," says NETTTS Vice President of Compliance Don Harris.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Bridgeport police tips line at 203-576-TIPS.
