Police: Man suffered possible medical episode prior to fatal crash in Cummings Park

Police say speed is being investigated as a factor, as is the possibility of the man suffering some sort of medical episode prior to the crash.

An 80-year-old man was killed after police say he suffered a possible medical episode before crashing a car into a tree in a Stamford park.
The crash happened on Tuesday at 510 Shippan Ave. inside Cummings Park around 1:50 p.m.
The Stamford Police Department says the man failed to properly take a curve in the road, sped through a small parking lot and struck a tree with his 2019 Subaru.
The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
Police say speed is being investigated as a factor, as is the possibility of the man suffering some sort of medical episode prior to the crash.
The man's identity is not being released until his family has been notified.
