A Norwalk man was arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography and having inappropriate communication with underage girls.
Eddie Zapata, 22, allegedly contacted a 13-year-old Canadian girl and a 12-year-old Florida girl online.
Norwalk authorities received a tip about the case from law enforcement in Canada. Police say that the case dates back to November 2017.
The Special Victims Unit was contacted by Homeland Security regarding a referral by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Officials seized electronic devices from Zapata's home on Suncrest Road. They say that they found evidence of his communication with the underage girls and child pornography.
Court documents say that he coerced the victims to send naked pictures of themselves. The documents say he then reciprocated with photos of himself.
The judge lowered Zapata's bond to $30,000 because of no prior criminal history. However, there are conditions on his release, including GPS monitoring and no access to computers or smartphones.
He is facing numerous charges. Zapata will be back in court on May 6.
