A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Stamford police car Wednesday, according to officials.

They say it happened on Wire Mill Road around 4 p.m. while the officer was actively responding to a call for service.

Police say the victim was taken to Stamford Hospital where they later died.

Neighbors say the road is severely unsafe. They say it is winding, with no sidewalks with very little space for anyone to walk.

The investigation is being handled by Connecticut State Police.
