A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on North Avenue and French Street near Lindley Street in Bridgeport, police say.
The crash happened near the Gulf Gas station Sunday just before 9 p.m.
Police say the pedestrian was crossing North Avenue from the southside of the street to the northside when he was struck in the left lane by a dark-colored sedan. The vehicle failed to stop and continued eastbound on North Avenue.
The pedestrian, a Bridgeport man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
Police say the driver of the car, which they describe as a dark-colored sedan, was last seen headed east on North Avenue.
"Right now the type of car is most likely a two or four-door sedan. The video is not that great where we saw the car, so we're just trying to get better video at this time," says Sgt. Gabe Meszaros.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Traffic Division at 203-576-7640.
