Police say a person was seriously injured in a car crash on the East Side of Bridgeport on Monday. It happened at Arctic and East Main streets shortly after 1 p.m.

Witnesses told News 12 there was a loud argument just before the impact.

"I heard the commotion and everybody's like running and running," said witness Kenya Cabrera.

Cabrera works at a nail salon just a few feet away from the crash scene.

She and other witnesses said they heard a loud dispute just before a black Audi drove into the sidewalk and crashed into a fence in front of a multifamily home.

Police said one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, while another person was detained by police.

It is not yet clear if any charges will be filed.
