A portion of Route 35 near 495 Danbury Road in Ridgefield was closed for several hours after a crash involving a school bus.
It happened just after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say four cars were involved in the crash with the school bus and two people were hospitalized.
Police say one of two has serious injuries.
No children or passengers were on board.
"From what I was told, it was two of the vehicle operators that were transported. Nobody from the bus was transported or injured," says Capt. Jeff Raines.
Northbound and southbound detours were put in place.
The cause of the crash has not been released, but News 12's Tom Krosnowski said the stretch of road where the crash happened was icy in some spots. Other roads were slick through the afternoon.
Police say the crash easily could have been worse.
"It's a busy traffic road in the morning, definitely a lot of school bus stops on this road. It's the main junction besides Route 7 that enters into Ridgefield." says Raines.
Police urge drivers to be careful when in driving in snowy and icy conditions.
"Leave a little bit of extra room with the cars in front of you, especially when there's inclement weather the day of, or the night before. Just give yourself a little bit of extra time, don't drive distracted," says Raines.
News 12 has reached to First Student, the bus company involved, for further comment, but have not heard back.
